DMCI Homes donates P10.77 million Gawad Kalinga

DMCI Homes donated P10.77 million to the Mandaluyong City government and Gawad Kalinga to fund the construction of 40 low-cost houses in Barangay Plainview.

Represented by DMCI Homes Senior Vice President for Finance and Operations Ramil Lombos, the company handed the donation to Gawad Kalinga and Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos during the groundbreaking ceremony on July 18, 2015. The housing project called “DMCI GK Village” will be built along San Miguel Street.

In his speech, Mayor Abalos told the beneficiaries that, “The donation for your [the] project was given one year ago already. This just proves that DMCI Homes really has a heart of gold.” Abalos believes that these homes will provide the beneficiaries’ children with a more decent place to live.

Known as the top developer of condominium and house and lot communities, the company still seeks to do more than just business. According to Lombos, “It is the vision of DMCI Homes to provide homes not only to the middle income families but also to the less fortunate. We hope that the new homes will make their lives better.”

Luis Oquiñena, Executive Director of Gawad Kalinga, also showed enthusiasm over the million-peso project saying, “In Mandaluyong, the more we build this pocket of hope and this pocket of transformation, we will become a model for other urban areas to emulate.” Oquiñena and his team will lead the project, helped by the beneficiaries themselves.

Barangay Plainview Captain Michael Garcia assured officials and donors that the beneficiaries and their families will take good care of their new village.

DMCI Homes supports housing projects of local government units for marginalized families in Metro Manila as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts, spearheaded by its corporate program, Kaakbay. The triple A property developer has already been donating funds for housing projects in different cities in the metro. Previously, it has awarded P23.7 million to the Paranaque City government for the construction of 190 homes along the Paranaque River. It has also donated P4 million to the Quezon City government in 2013 for the construction of socialized housing for families of Barangay Payatas.

DMCI Homes supports the Mandaluyong City government and contributes to increase the growth of investments in the city. The company has also gained recognition as one of the city’s top 10 taxpayers. Mayor Abalos showed appreciation on these contributions during the celebration of Mandaluyong City’s 21st Founding Anniversary earlier this year.

Among DMCI Homes’ residential condominium developments in Mandaluyong City are Flair Towers, Tivoli Garden Residences, Dansalan Gardens and the newest development, Sheridan Towers.
